Corrosion of steel in concrete

The Commission’s main objective is to evaluate the corrosion of steel in concrete, studying diagnostic methods and evaluating repair solutions, such as electrochemical treatments, for damaged reinforced concrete structures.

The Commission's work covers the following areas:

  • Corrosion diagnoses, destructive and non-destructive testing, instrumentation and monitoring
  • Durability of reinforced concrete regarding corrosion and service life prediction
  • Modelling and experimentation.
  • Electrochemical repair treatments (cathodic protection by impressed current or galvanic anodes, realkalisation, chloride extraction)
  • Standardisation: AFNOR, CEN, ISO, BNTRA
  • Communication: conferences, research (National research agency, doctoral theses) publications
  • Training/Certification consistent with CEFRACOR (CFPC) cathodic protection certification
