Using electrochemical permeation (EP) to study hydrogen diffusion in pure iron showed abnormal permeation curves. The curves were characterized by double plateaus: a fast increase to a short plateau followed by a slower increase to a longer semi-stable plateau. This phenomenon was recurring and upon further investigation, effect of porosity seems to be influencing the results.  More studies are in progress to pinpoint and characterize the exact effect of porosity on diffusion and trapping of hydrogen in a pure iron.
